Iona Foster is an Oxford-based Architect delivering high quality building design - equally comfortable with the complexity of large public arts, educational and infrastructure projects as with the detailed remodelling of homes for private clients.

From early design sketches to completion our projects exhibit a design process of honing and refinement, achieving economic solutions which are fit for purpose. Our designs are robust and modern, reflecting the requirements of contemporary living whilst having reference to permanent values which stand the test of time.

The climate emergency and the urgent need to meet low carbon standards is a top priority. We design to circular economy principles using recycled and recyclable materials with innovation. In collaboration with building physics experts we advise on the decarbonisation of College estates and the delivery of carbon savings through the retrofit of heritage listed buildings.

Iona enjoys teaching and lectures on sustainability and Social Value to postgraduate architectural students at Oxford Brookes and London Bartlett schools of architecture. She is an external examiner at Cambridge University and has taught studio design at the Universities of Cambridge, Sheffield and London Metropolitan.

Iona is a committed member of RIBA Oxfordshire committee and enjoys promoting the discussion of sustainability and supporting local architects.
